Brian Lara Situations

Situation Name - OD Record

Difficulty Rating = 2 (ratings go from 1 easy to 6 nearly impossible)

Surrey (South Africa) have scored 171 for 4 against Kent (Pakistan) after just 22 overs. With a keen eye for statistics and records, the Surrey captain Adam Hollioake feels that his team could possibly better their own highest team score and the record 40 over domestic one day score of all time of 310 for 4 set just a few years previous. The rest of the team know the plan - can you help them manage this amazing feat! Let the fireworks commense!

How did the situation arise ?

Well when you bowl 3 leg side full tosses to any batsman you expect to be battered especially when inside the first 8 overs (when the field is in). When you bowl those leg side full tosses to Alec Stewart well need I say more - 31/0 off just 3 overs. (Stewart at 28 off just 11 balls at this stage! - M.Butcher 3 not out off 7 balls). Kent do have the conditions in the favour but really can't help gifting Surrey with runs and lifelines - (2 drop catches and some very sloppy bowling!). Kent just have themselves to blame but can you just rub it in that little bit further and completley demorolise them by scoring this one day record.

By the way just out of interest and out of fun see how many times you can hit the gas holder and the commentry box! - I've hit the gas holder twice, once with a pull from Stewart and once with a sweep from Thorpe (by pressing control and 7 I think you'd describe the shot as a "sweep" or "slog-sweep" - Thorpe's left handed remember!,) I think the commentry box is in one of the stands - the one that backs onto the Harleyford Road! Oh, and I've hit the pavillion once as well for got measure - a Mark Butcher straight six, off Dean Headley's final ball - yep, a full toss!

N.B. - If you like bowling then try and defend this total because of course if Kent were to win they would of course be the One Day record holders! by surpassing the Surrey score that you've just put up on the board. (If you bowl as well as bat then difficulty rating increases by 1 (to a rating of 3) - how hard is it to conceed less then 300 runs on a dusty pitch under Grey conditions ?! - well just ask the Kent captain Matthew Fleming - he's probably just done it!)

You can also download the teams - you need to save these to your teams directory and rename these to the team of your choice, for example if you want to have Kent as Austraila then rename kentteam.tm to austeam.tm. Obviously you will need to rename you Austeam.tm. Note you can copy back the original teams by copying them back from the C.D. Just remember to go to these copied files and click on file and properties and remove the tick from read-only.The Surrey team    The Kent team
