Brian Lara Situations
Hello and welcome to the Brian Lara Cricket situations section. These pages contain situations from the game Brian Lara Cricket, which have occurred naturally - or just interesting situations which have created for the fun of it, all situations have been completley created (and not just copying the ideas from the save games situations) and in some cases very unique situations which have occurred due to such things as a quick change in weather or trying to score to quickly under cloudy skies or in some cases where something has failed like a keyboard buffer (which could cause delay between pressing the key and the shot being played or even a keyboard lock up) - or just autoplaying a few innings!
To view and download a situation (you can download as many or as few as you want they are free!) click on the link below of the situation you want and you will be taken to a description of the situation available and the actual .BLC file (which you need to put in
your save game directory). Please note you can save your hand by typing the address "http://blc01.nav.to"
Here also we have ranked the situations with our difficulty rating system (which is something most other sites don't do!) - our ratings go from 1 (easy) to
6 (nearly impossible) 1. The Ultimate Embarrasment (difficulty rating = 5) -
A semi final match between West Indies and Zimbabwe that has just gone desperately wrong.
The West Indies are in dire trouble 60 / 6 against Zimbabwe, having batted just 12 overs, of a 50 match, can the West Indies firstly bat out their overs, setting a good total then defend it with what Geoffrey calls an attack 'that lacks
the restricted bowling attack of the other top sides'. Can they do it this time ?

2. 1981 - The Complete Series (difficulty rating = 3)
A chance to play the complete and play the famous 1981 Ashes series between the England and Austraila
A chance to play the series in 1981 but this team we ask the question what would happen if Mike Brearly was captain of the
team from the start ? Maybe you can answer the question whilst having a high amount of 'historic' fun!

3. The 1999 World Cup (difficulty rating = 3)
A chance to play the 1999 world cup again and this time see if England or Scotland can qualify for the semi Finals
Be manager of both of the home nations and see if you can get
at least one of them into the semi-finals of the 1999 world cup

4. England v Austraila - their greatest Ashes teams (difficulty rating = 4)
Although it is phyiscally improssible, in real life I played the 'best' Austraila team against the 'best' England team
The England 1981 team requires 28 more runs to win off 12 deliveries with
3 wickets remaining against the Austraila 1993 team. Tim May and Mark Waugh will bowl the 2 overs with the current batsmen being Dilley and Taylor
User controlled team - Either!! You can chose (note if you manage the Aussie team the difficulty rating
drops to 2)

5. England v Austraila - the 1993 teams (difficulty rating = 6)
Save the ashes! - In 1993, Austraila won the Ashes 4 - 1. In this repeat of the 1993 series, England are 2 - 0 down after 3 (Lords was a draw)
England are following on in their second innings 296 runs behind in the 4th test v Austraila - but realistically with
4 sessions and a bit to survive to keep the hope of drawing the series alive. England must firstly draw this match and then win the remaining 2 matches to share the spoils for the Ashes. This is made more difficult
by the fact that the form of the England team is poor (and so are their averages) in comparism to the Austrailian team - as most users will know it is the averages that make the game!

6. Smith's Match (difficulty rating = 3)
A chance to play an innings by Robin Smith like his innings in 1991 against West Indies.
England are 24/5 chasing a West Indies score of 277, a big innings from Robin Smith is required now
to avoid West Indies winning this match, Smith is the last recognised batsman left with just the tail for company against the fine West Indies pace attack.

7. Richard's Take 2 ? (difficulty rating = 4)
A match between England and Pakistan.
England are 148/9 against Pakistan and have batted less than half
of their 40 over limit, an innings is required of Richards' class from the so caled 'English one day specialist' Neil Fairbrother

8. Sussex's Struggle (difficulty rating = 6)
A County Championship match between Sussex (Zimbabwe) and Warwickshire (West Indies) on a bowler friendly pitch.
Sussex (Zimbabwe) are playing Warwickshire (West Indies) in a county Championship
match at Edgbaston, Sussex have bowled badly and are now in trouble with the bat with all the recognised batsman back in the pavillion apart from the captain (Chris Adams) on
a very bowler friendly pitch against a quality Warwickshire team. Can Sussex save this game ?

9. NewODRecord (difficulty rating = 2)
Surrey (South Africa) are 171/4 after just 22 overs against Kent (Pakistan), but can Surrey beat their own One Day Record of 310/4 off 40
overs
Kent are playing Surrey at the Oval and have bowled so badly that Surrey
are just streaking away. Captain Adam Hollioake has just arrived at the crease with the instructions to go for the record - let the fireworks begin! (By the way
bonus points for anyone who can hit the gas holder or the commentry box!).

Not got Brian Lara Cricket ? - you can now and you don't even need to leave the your chair !
Many of you have pointed out that almost all the matches involves England in some way or another. Well there are 3 reasons for this, firstly I am
English and will naturally start a game with my home team, the second is that my favourite player is English and plays for his national team (Mike Atherton), thirdly, after all the stick that England took in the press and the amount of stick that the English team gets
from the public, I thought I'd put the shoe on the other the foot - rather than giving England stick you've got to take the stick and get them out of these situations.
I would point out that we are in no way linked to Codemasters and the only link between this site and codemasters is the game of Brian Lara
Cricket - (more of the same please 'coddies'!). 95% of the images used are taken from the game and therefore are copywrite Codemasters.
